Why Sod Installation Is Better Than Grown Lawns

By George Anderson

Everybody loves spending time at home. However, due to factors like climate, sometime the indoors can get uncomfortable and one needs to be outside. There are many activities that can be done outdoors but just having a quiet time on the lawn can be pleasing. To get a satisfactory feeling, one needs to do Sod Installation as growing grass appropriately is somewhat challenging.

Unlike normal grass seeds which may take time to grow, sods are always ready and one just has to prepare the installation grounds thoroughly before beginning the process. They take less time to set up and within a few days they can already be used.

When preparing for such a project the land must be first prepared. Preparation in this case involves knowing the exact measurements of the area to be fitted with the turf. Measurements should be taken and confirmed several times and noted down. When purchasing the grass, professionals advise that some surplus should be purchased just in case of shortages and to be on the safe side.

When preparing the area to fix the turf, the whole space should be completely cleared off any debris and levelled. Leaving any kind of debris on the soil always has a negative effect on the completed project as there will be no smooth layout. To handle this process carefully it would be advisable to look around for an expert who understands the procedure.

To guarantee that the newly placed turf blends well in its new environment, it should be placed on ground that has high drainage and aeration levels. This will allow the roots of the new grass to penetrate the soil and be able to take up nutrients effectively. Also when laying them down, one should ensure that they are compactly placed but do not run over each other for the best benefits.

Once the installation is complete, like any other project, the space should be cleaned well before the final product is revealed. In this case, any loose soil or unused grass should be removed from the scene. This gives the contractor an easy time seeing any incomplete areas that need finishing touches before the project is officially completed.

Quite a lot of people have opted for artificial lawns as they have been found to be less expensive. They take a short time to set up and their maintenance is low cost as well. Unlike grass which may die out in the drier seasons, sods will require very little water. This greatly reduces water bills and helps owners save money for other important uses.

A lot of people love to spend time with their families and the outdoors is always a preferred place to create memories. Growing a lawn from start would be a daunting task and might rob people off quality time with family. Having an artificial lawn would be a better option as it takes less time and funds. Besides that, it elevates the overall appeal of a house and eventually even increases its value.
