Tips On How To Do Sod Installation Commercial

By Melissa Gray

Aesthetically, a plush lawn takes the attractiveness of a property a notch higher. It does not matter whether you want to do Sod Installation Commercial in around a home or a commercial property; of important is that a qualified installer can bring the necessary makeover you need in your yard. Actually, within just three hours or so, a rough and rugged compound can be made beautiful and attractive.

Most people keep their eyes glued on a green and well maintained grass. What most of them are not aware of is the amount of work an expert sod installer put into the installation process. There is a lot of physical activity into it in order to remove the dried vegetation and replace it with healthy rolls of turf. Moreover, an expert comes with the right gear and equipment necessary to ensure the success of the project.

Prior to installation, one ought to ensure that the soil is ready. Hence, by using a rototiller, loosen the soil to a depth of about six to eight inches. Afterwards, mix compost to it. That way, the ground becomes nutritious to the grass. Soon after that, pour a mixture of sand and clay to enhance water seepage in the ground. Lumps of sand may compromise the smoothness of this soil. Level it using a rake.

After sprinkling a little water to the prepared soil, the ensuing step is to lay down the first roll of sod. To achieve a straight edge, lay them from a straight edged boundary, for instance; the fence. Laying the rolls is not enough because some air collects beneath them. To get rid of the air, press them against the ground gently so that it adheres firmly to the wet ground. Then proceed on to laying the remaining rolls.

As part of the project, water the new lawn sufficiently. This water is important to settle down the soil. Take caution to avoid stepping on the grass for a period not less than a week. Still on this, spray water in the morning. It is advisable to do so because the mid-day scorch evaporates the water at a high rate. On the other hand, watering at night dampens it, and that encourages the growth of fungi.

After observing a daily schedule of sprinkling water for a week, reduce this frequency to about twice per week. Past one week, the installed lawn will have adhered well to the ground such that one cannot depict its recent installation. Coming into the third week, water the landscape less often. However, during summer, sprinkle the land more often as the days are dissimilarly hotter.

When the lawn grows to a five-inch height, that is a green light to mow it. When mowing it, caution should be taken as the grass is still soft and fragile. Hence, minimize the weight on it by using a pushed mower rather the driven ones. Besides, trimming the size of the grass ensure the exponential growth of roots whilst reducing the invasion of weeds.

Lastly, remember to add fertilizer. Addition of that increases nutrient value of the soil. This is mainly done to make up for the lost nutrient due to increased leaching during the intensive watering in the preceding few weeks. On top of that, never fail to hire an expert mower to maintain the landscape.
