Every gardener or those people who are very interested about the lives of plants know how pruning is very crucial. Through this, plants will grow healthy because those dying and rotten parts are being eradicated. Winter is the next season afterwards. Plants will concentrate more their energy towards their roots rather than on healing its wounds. Therefore, pruning it at fall will make your plant very vulnerable at cold season because of its wounds from trimming.

If that is the case, then what shall you do during autumn? Of course you still have to do some maintenance. Raking as well as mulching will do better for your plants. Mulching can help plants in gathering some nutrients. Aside from that, you should also remove those dead parts instead of leaving it like that.

In addition, continue on watering your garden as a preparation for winter. Cold season can really be tough for them in getting some water. Deep-watering can be helpful for trees. So when are you going to prune them? The option would be at late winter and the other one is on early spring.

The main rule is that fall is not a good time for you to do pruning at your garden. In that case, you should wait for another months. Unless you want those plants to die instead.
