Tips On Tenafly Landscaping Maintenance

By Laura Stevens

Maintaining your landscape is one great way of conserving its appearance and beauty. Besides, through maintaining it, you can prevent soil erosion and by so doing conserve the nutrients. This is not an easy thing to do especially for those who do not know how to go about it. Here under are tips on how to do Tenafly landscaping maintenance.

There are several activities involved in this process. One of them is mowing. There are people who start by mowing in straight lines across the turf, but the best way to do it is to more at most two strips all around the turf area before mowing in straight line pattern across the area. Consider mowing weekly especially during the growing season, and ensure that you check the oil level of the mower after each mow. In addition to that, it is advisable you sharpen the mower blades after every season.

While some people consider moving in straight lines across the lawn, the best way would be to do it in a straight-line pattern. Ensure your mower is working appropriately by checking the oil level. It is also necessary to sharpen your mower before doing the trimming.

Control the weeds in your turf. You can use herbicides to do this, or you can do it manually by pulling up the weeds every mow, which is the more preferred way. This should be done when the weeds are starting to crop up because their roots have not spread widely by then. If you consider using herbicides, ensure that you go for the selective herbicides since they do not kill the grass alongside the weed.

Ensure you also control the weeds in your turf. Herbicides and manual plucking are the two commonly used methods for this purpose. If you decide to use an herbicide, ensure you use a selective herbicide. A selective herbicide will kill the weeds and leave your grass intact. The other most preferred method is hand plucking. The method is very efficient especially if the weeds are still sprouting. Do not let the weeds go so long before you pluck them out. It will ensure that the roots do not grow so firmly to the ground.

Turf, like any other crop, requires water. But you need to understand that their roots also need enough oxygen for turf to survive. Regulate the amount of water as too much water may be harmful. On the other hand, you will be required to water the lawn three to five times a week during the dry seasons.

In addition to water, turf also requires fertilizers in order to do well. Applying the fertilizers at least three to five times a year. Note that too much of the fertilizer can burn the turf. Also, too much use of them reduces the quality of the soil. Where organic fertilizers are available, go for them.

Keeping your lawn healthy and beautiful can sometimes be a real bear. However, the way and the time you mow, water and fertilizer availability and weed control can effectively help considerably when maintaining a healthy landscape. Keeping unnecessary growth such as moss will also keep your lawn attractive, aerated, appealing and healthy. Once you consider these important tips, your turf will remain splendid.
